Vocational training
We offer professional occupational health and safety training in the form of National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs), which are based on national occupational standards. These are:
- NVQ Level 3 in Occupational Health and Safety
- NVQ Level 4 in Occupational Health and Safety Practice
A dedicated assessor will be assigned to you, giving helpful and friendly support throughout the course.

About NVQs
NVQ qualifications recognise someone’s competence (skills, knowledge and understanding) in a work situation. Our National College for Further Education (NCFE) NVQs offer occupational health and safety training that is suitable for those who have work experience in this area.
Candidates are expected to have sufficient standards of communication and numeracy skills to carry out the NVQ.
These occupational health and safety training courses are designed to reflect the work of candidates with health and safety responsibilities.
NCFE NVQ Level 3 in Occupational Health and Safety

- Investigate and evaluate health and safety incidents and complaints in the workplace

- Supervise the health, safety and welfare of a learner in the workplace.
NCFE NVQ Level 4 in Occupational Health and Safety Practice

- Develop and implement the health and safety policy
- Develop and implement effective communication systems for health and safety information
- Develop and maintain individual and organisational competence in health and safety matters
- Identify, assess and control health and safety risks
- Develop and implement proactive monitoring systems for health and safety

- Develop and implement health and safety emergency response systems and procedures
- Develop and implement health and safety review systems
- Influence and keep pace with improvements in health and safety practice.

As part of your NVQ fee, you will be provided with unique login information during your enrolment to give you access to our online ePortfolio system, which is accessed via our website.

Dedicated support throughout your occupational health and safety training
